about

Taking the honours and heading up the release is SPL with his awesome take on 'Shy Flame', twisting it into a nasty piece of synthetic filth that's bound to cause maximum damage in the club. Intro'ing with heavily filtered vocals that float in the mix of drifting pads it's not long before the stabbing church-like synth builds us up for the drop of bassline murder! Pummelling subs double down as SPL draws us deep into the journey for a huge piece of dubstep which aims to please. Wait for the middle section switch and it's all over!

Moving on to Current Value's orginial 'Shy Flame' featuring his favoured vocalist Snow and it's a very different story; a drum & bass story to be exact. Opening with a light stepping break, Snow's vocals begin to wash over the arrangement as we assume the position. It's then a soft drop into the full on break and the square wave b-line that leads the way as the track develops gradually into a full-on piece of big-room rave. Double kicks keep things rolling to the end as the dreaming pads envelope the mix. Quality gear.

BIO FOR: Current Value
Berlin's Tim Eliot represents the top percentile of European drum & bass producers. With substantial training in classical piano, he began dabbling in electronic music in 1992. Several years later he began receiving recognition on local Berlin radio stations and a series of irrefutably classic 12"s ensued. Seminal works on Don Q and Position Chrome catapulted Current Value into a literal phase of underground superstardom.

Shortly thereafter, he also began playing live in his hometown and subsequently in other places in Europe and in the USA. The early Position Chrome releases like 'Creative Robot', 'Skybreaker', and 'Bass Riot' were very well received... particularly in North America.

The decidedly dark and often dissonant sound of the techstep revolution resonated with many disenfranchised junglists as well as electronica listeners; spearheaded in part by Current Value.

With numerous singles and 4 LP's, Current Value left an indelible impression on the drum & bass and techno genres. With subsequent appearances on renowned labels like DonQ Records (Ger), Ruff-Teck (NL), Klangkrieg (Ger), Phantom Noise (Ger), NoBreaks (Ger), and Soothsayer Recordings, Current Value has continued to produce quality drum & bass for the dancefloor as well as the living room audience.

In 2004, after 1 year of education, he received his Diploma at the School of Audio Engineering SAE - enhancing his production values and abilities even further. In mid 2005 Soothsayer released the first of several Current Value 12"s. Successive releases including a split 12" w/ Kid Kryptic (Soothsayer/Theoretic), and the monumental "The Unspoken" EP underscore the growing quality and number of Current Value releases.

In 2006, Current Value has delivered even bigger and better tunes with his new work for Soothsayer Recordings, Intransigent Recordings, the ultimate UK labels Obscene Recordings and Tech Itch, Counterstrikes label Algorythm and the amazing US based Evol Intent Recordings. Current Value has also begun collaboration with SPL (Tech Itch, Freak, Lost Soul), Limewax (Freak, Tech Freak, Tech Itch, L/B), Counterstrike (Algorythm, Future Sickness, ...) and Raiden (Offkey, Freak, Position Chrome) and has provided tunes for various of the mentioned finest drum'n'bass labels. Being part of the "Freak Family" he is booked through Anger Management and plays sets frequently all around the globe.

In december 2007 the famous label owner of Freak Recordings Dylan. In late 2009 he releases his next full length album on Freak Recordings called "2012 - The Day Of Silence".

In 2009 he also started a project with Dean Rodell called "Machine Code" working on new Drum and Bass tunes as well as Dubstep and Quarter Step tunes and playing alot of MC-live shows.

In early 2010 Current Value presents a further album available on Subsistenz on the 12th of April 2010 on 5x Vinyl, Double CD & MP3. Current Value is now officially sponsored by NORD. INTERVIEWS:

BIO FOR: SPL
SPL aka Sam Pool has spent the last decade taking risks and breaking the mold in electronic music. Received internationally, SPL feeds the ears and souls of bassheads worldwide. From thousands of screaming fans in St. Petersburg and Kiev arenas, to massive club nights in Holland and New Zealand, to stateside venues from the east to west coast, SPL delivers with passion and musical prowess that goes beyond the current state of dance music. Because of his international experiences and influences, SPL has launched into new territories time and time again.

SPL’s most recent approach forays into the depths of dub-hop infused hyper-bass music. Combining elements from the pulse of an all-night party and a healthy dose of Trap-Star Crunk, a unique and highly energetic experience emerges every time SPL gets on the decks. For those who cannot wait for a show, the same sound and intensity can be found in his recent track “Back at It” or his massive remix of Bassnectar's "Bass Head". Either way, SPL is bound to take your head on an intergalactic-bass journey, and leave you begging for more!
